- Space does not permit including the assembler source for the Kermit program,
- but it can be ordered on magnetic tape from Columbia University, or obtained
- over various computer networks or from dialup hosts (but note that Columbia
- will always have the most up-to-date set of source files).
-
- The generic version of Kermit may be run on non-IBM (and on IBM-incompatible)
- MS-DOS machines for which you do not have a specific Kermit program. The .BOO
- file programs are useful for encoding binary files as printable text (.BOO)
- files and decoding them back into their original form, for convenient shipping
- over communication lines, networks, or electronic mail. New versions of Kermit
- are often distributed in .BOO format.
